Salt Lake City, Utah

This panoramic photograph of Salt Lake City was taken by James Blakeway. It features a twilight view of downtown Salt Lake City with the Wasatch Mountain Range in the background. Featured at the far left is the brightly-lit Utah State Capitol and Delta Center, home to the Utah Jazz basketball team. In the distance, slightly right of downtown, is the University of Utah. The city is the world headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also known as the Mormons. Behind the Salt Palace, with its striped roof, is the Mormon Temple with its spiked roof. Salt Lake City was settled in 1847 by pioneers seeking an escape from persecution.
