Dave Tutt Art Prints

I first started painting properly in my teens although at school it was a great thrill at the age of six to win a prize in an art competition that my teachers had secretly entered me for. My teens were troubled times, as I was just not capable of dealing with school and other kids so I stayed away. When they dragged me back I ended up at a special school for truants and there began my true education in the real world. I have mostly taught myself everything since that time which makes you wonder where my collection of diverse skills came from! Reading, trial and error, experimentation and failure all played a part both in my art and in work and life. To earn enough I have had to be diverse and work most of my waking hours and have to say time has not allowed me to be prolific! However, as a 50 year old I am finding the opportunity to commit more time and thus more paint to canvas and the imminent slide into potential unemployment means I am finding ideas flowing and a reason to work on this side of my life. So I have photos and paintings to present to the world which you may have already seen on my web site.

I favour several different styles, some very childish I guess others that are almost unique. My first painting here is the ships at the breakers which has strange properties not least that of the motion of the ships relative to each other as you walk past and look at it in a sideways glance!

My first couple of paintings were a rather large moonscape that was created in around 1972 I think, but was followed by a picture of spanish thistles that my then teacher wanted me to paint. Since I had never seen these thistles and in reality have only seen them since as dried plants I cannot claim great realism. However, I was quite pleased with it. Several other really bad pictures followed until I discovered oil and acrylic!

I currently work full time at the BBC, have a busy electronic repair business and try to balance everything and do the washing up! Need to know more? Then I'm sure a google of artandwork will find me or even tutt-technology!

I am hoping to get some initial interest, if only from mail communication! But you never know, some people get fame in their lifetimes.
