The artist has a longstanding historical interest in the German armed forces that fought on land during the Second World War. Thus, the artist specialises in depicting individual soldiers or the battles that they fought in. The works are original and inspired by the wealth of photographs from the conflict and attempt to portray the experience of conflict as captured on the faces of the participants.
