Art History from Easyart.com

If you want to find out about an artist, click on the letter by the folder that contains the initial of the artist's surname i.e if you want to find out about 'Degas' click on the letter 'D'. If you still can't find what you're looking for, email us with your query and, indeed, with any other comments you have.

It's simple to use and contains lots of colourful pictures painted by the artist or movement you're reading about. Clever eh?

Amongst the 'serious' biographies you will find that Easyart's favourite author, Michael Cox, has used several hundred metres of artistic license to weave together thousands of amazing arty facts and create a laugh-while-you-learn art history that blows dust in the face of those dry, old books on painters from the past.

Special contributor - Michael Cox

Click here to visit his personal websiteMichael Cox was born on the 23rd August 1949 in Sherwood, Nottingham (maternity hospital, not forest). He is now more or less 50 years old and lives in Nottinghamshire with his wife, who is a college lecturer, his cat, who isn't, and one hen, which couldn't be even if it wanted to. He has one son, Tom, aged 24, who writes for The Guardian.

Michael's spare time activities include walking to his work room, switching on his word processor and intimidating the postman. He has written about 17 books for children on subjects ranging from art to weirdness and horror (so not much change there.) When he's not busy writing he's to be found jetting off on exciting, expenses paid research trips to his local library.

He also paints watercolour landscapes of trees and sheep loitering near the sort of buildings that ought to have been demolished centuries ago. He sells his pictures and limited edition prints through any galleries vulnerable or naive enough to take them off his hands. He loves reading and listening to blues and African pop.
