Caroline Arber was born in Bermuda and brought up in the Vale of Belvoir, Leicestershire.
Her family was not an artistic one, but when she expressed an interest in art as a young child she was sent to the local art school. She completed a course at the Leicester College of Art and became a photographic assistant for five years to many different photographers in London.
In particular, she admires the photography of Irving Penn and was inspired to take up a photographic career by his book, "Moments Preserved", which she was given as a birthday present.
Caroline Arber works as much as possible with available natural light. During her career she has participated in many exhibitions, including key events in London and Tokyo.
