Matthew Alexander is a consummate artist who is well versed in the English landscape tradition. Like Claude Monet before him, did not become an Impressionist painter he always was one. Formerly trained at Maidstone College of Art, he was influenced from an early age by his father Chris, the renowned Kentish artist and tutor. Matthew began painting professionally in 1981 and quickly established his reputation, with several showings of his pictures at the Royal Academy and the Mall Galleries in London. He also exhibited in various prestigious Kent galleries before his first one-man exhibition in 1995 at Messum’s in Cork St, where he has continued to show since.
