Frequently Asked Questions

Your Academy Portfolio

Q: Do I have to submit my entire image allocation all at the same time?
A: No. You may submit images, up to the number of unused upload credits available on your account, at any time. You can increase your upload credits, either singularly or in blocks.

Q: Can I change or edit my images?
A: Once an image is 'live', the title and image itself may not be changed, only removed. Other information relating to the image may be edited at any time, but will be reviewed by us prior to display.

Q: Who holds the copyright for the work I display in the Easyart Academy?
A: You do. Everything we display remains your work so you retain full ownership and copyright of your original artwork. By participating in the Easyart Academy, however, you grant Easyart a non exclusive and royalty free worldwide licence to use your artwork, titles and logos as Easyart deems appropriate to advertise, market and promote the Academy programme.

Q: Where will my artwork be displayed?
A: Your artwork will be displayed and offered for sale on the Easyart UK and international web sites. Your work may also be appear on other art related sites we operate together with those of our affiliates. Don't worry, we pay you commission on all sales, no matter what the source.

Q: Is it safe to display my images online?
A: Unlike certain web sites, we do not impose a dominating watermark across your image, as we believe this is totally detrimental to the presentation and display of your work. We can't guarantee that an individual may not attempt to print your image from our web site however all our images are displayed at a maximum of 400 pixels in the greatest dimension and at a resolution of 72dpi meaning that any reproduction at that level will lead to a very poor quality print. With the experience of handling over 10,000 artist and the 60,000+ images represented on Easyart.com, we are confident that anyone seriously interested in buying a piece of art would not be satisfied with this level of reproduction.

Q: What happens if someone wants to buy a piece of my original artwork?
A: If you wish to make some of your original work available for sale, include your contact details in your artist profile.

Q: What is Easyart.com's commission on the sale of my original work?
A: Nothing. You keep 100% of the sale price of your original work.

Q: How long does it take for images I upload to become available on the web site?
A: All images are reviewed prior to be going live in the Easyart Academy. While we are keen to promote as wide a range of art as possible there may be some things which we feel are not suitable. In most cases your work will be online within 3 working days. You may submit replacements for any images that we reject, without forfeiting the upload fee.

Q: How many images do I need for a live portfolio?
A: Your portfolio will be live with only one image if that is all you wish to display.

Q. By what method will my images be printed?
A. Your image will be reproduced as a Giclée print which is an individually produced, high resolution reproduction done on a large format printer. Giclée printing is superior to traditional lithography - the colours are brighter, last longer and are so high resolution that they are virtually continuous tone rather than tiny dots. The range of colour possible is far beyond that of conventional offset-lithography (which is used on most open-edition prints and posters).

Q. What can my images be printed on?
A. We offer printing onto a range of art and photographic paper and canvas. Our art papers include heavyweight Fine Art 220gsm matt white paper and 240gsm Watercolour cream mould-made (textured) paper.

Easyart canvases are stretched by hand on 2″ deep kiln dried solid wood stretchers. The canvas used is high quality artist's 100% natural cotton canvas, which has been stabilised to further enhance the quality and durability of the printed image. We only use light fast UV inks, which have a minimum 25 year life expectancy.

Q. How much should I expect my prints to sell for?
A: An average sized 80x60cm print will retail for approximately £45 upwards, depending on the specific paper or canvas option selected by the buyer.

Q. How much is the royalty payment on my print sales?
A: We pay royalties based on the reproduction of your work and therefore you will receive 20% of the selling price of the reproduction image, after VAT, sales discount and customer returns. Commission is not paid on value added services, such as framing. We believe this is represents an extremely competitive level of return compared with royalty offerings made by mainstream publishers.

Consequently, we only treat the sale as complete 21 days after despatch. You will be paid your royalty within 14 days of the month-end after this date is reached.

  • Separate keywords with a space.
  • Keywords are automatically translated for inclusion in our foreign language web sites.
  • Keywords are not case-sensitive.

Q: Why does it take so long to see changes to my image details?
A: Search results and 'zoom' pages are cached for 24 hours to improve the speed of the website. Once a page has been cached, any changes to the artwork information might not be reflected on the site until this cache has expired.
